Amber
and Deena are our Nova Scotia Duck Tolling
Retrievers. Nova Scotia is on the east coast of
Canada and the word "toller" comes from the
activity that the dogs are famous for, tolling or
playing to entice ducks to come within the hunter's
range. They belong to the Retrievers, along with the
well known Goldens, Labradors and Flat Coats and the
lesser known Curly Coated and Cheasapeake Bays.
We live in
Switzerland, just south of Berne, in the foothills
of the alps. We have always had Golden Retrievers. Our next door neighbour had a Toller
and we fell in love with this wonderful package of
energy. After a 9 month wait we went to pick up our
Decoymans Piper Annabel (Amber) from England in summer 2002.
The
breeder wanted to keep one of the puppies in the
litter and told us that it was really difficult to
make up his mind which one to give us. We are very
happy how things turned out!
In the
summer 2005 Deena, Aberdeen of Clan Buchanan joined
our family. It's going to be exiting to see how she
developes!
